"Fresh from causing a considerable stir on MySpace and winning Best Comedy at the Bristol Screentest Festival, Jay Foreman now comes to Edinburgh with his quirky, sometimes dark and quintessentially British spin on the comedy song"
So, what is this show?
My name is Jay Foreman. Hello. I've been playing songs that make people laugh for almost 3 years. In that time, I've sold more than 700 CDs (using only myspace and word of mouth for advertising) and had uncanny success with songs such as The Procrastinator, Martin Was a Monkey and Moon Chavs (which has been played more than 100,000 times and counting on youtube). So far, my music is only really known in the University of York where pretty much all my gigs have been, but hopefully that's all about to change! On 4 August 2007, I start a run of 21 hour-long shows at the Edinburgh Free Festival called "20 Songs for Free". My show is somewhere exactly halfway between stand-up comedy and music. Perhaps like Tim Minchin or Steven Lynch. (To see if I'm any good, check out the audio/video links on my website.)
Why should I go all the way to Edinburgh just to see this show?
Because the Edinburgh fringe is for my money the best place in the world you can possibly be in August! The entire city is transformed into a bustling beehive of colour, costumes and flyers from all over the country, all for the love of art and comedy! A mecca of talent and funnyness, old and new! (Practically every successful British comedy act you can think of started out at Edinburgh). So you don't just get to see my show, there are hundreds of others! Plus, there's nowhere quite like the Royal Mile during the Fringe
But isn't it expensive?
Surprisingly not! You can get some great deals on trips to Edinburgh at www.megabus.com, www.ryanair.com and www.easyjet.com. And there are hundreds of cheap hostels to stay at during the Edinburgh fringe. Check out www.hostelworld.com. Besides, my show is free! :P
Where is the show?
It's in Venue 264. A pub on Buccleuch Street just East of the lovely Meadows, about a 5 minute walk away from the big venues likes the Gilded Balloon, Udderbelly and Pleasance dome. Here's a helpful map to help you.
No thanks, I'll go some other year.
No you won't. Next year is 12 months away! And the year after that is even further away! Do YOU plan to live that long?
I actually CAN'T go. I have a funeral or I'm collecting a Nobel Prize or I'm not allowed north of the border since the incident. Is there something else I can do?
As a matter of fact, there is! For the low low price of £10, you can order the CD of the show called "20 Songs." That's 50p per song! A really good deal if you ask me. You don't get songs on i-tunes for that cheap, and you certainly don't get that kind of value in the physical shops like Woolworths HMV and Sainsburys! Click here to order your copy now!
