Who?

Hello! My name's Jay. I'm 23, I'm from North London and I'm a student at the University of York. In my spare time I like to write and record silly songs. Would you like to hear some of them?

It all started back in February 2005, when I needed a money-raising project to pay for a hitch-hiking trip to Morocco. Making a CD seemed like the best idea at the time, cos everyone at open mic night seemed to like my funny songs. I thought maybe some people would buy them.

But it all blew out of proportion! My first CD sold considerably more than I'd imagined (100 within the first month), people started calling it an "album", and my song "Moon Chavs" became the unofficial anthem of Halifax College.

Over the next academic weeks and months, I let it get to my head. Moon Chavs was becoming uncannily popular on YouTube, I did many a successful open mic night in my uni in York, plus a few other gigs for friends round the country, selling more and more CDs all the time.

After the success of the first CD, I made another a year later, and then another a year after that. Now for everyone's enjoyment, (and to save money on CD-Rs) the best songs from all 3 CDs are now available on a big bumper compilation called "20 Songs". (Click here to order your smashing copy!)

In August 2007, I did a show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe called "20 Songs for Free". It went so well, the BBC made a short video about it (click here), I was invited on Nuts TV and I was a guest on "Lunch with the Hamiltons".

These days I'm still doing the odd gig, maintaining this website (with the help of Rick Selby, the bestest webmaster that ever there was), and revelling narcissistically in the fact that every so often someone I've never met tells me they love my music
